In the interview the girls talk about being role models, advice for gay fans and their friendship with Emma Bunton.
ON BEING ROLE MODELS
JADE:: I don’t think we asked to be role models, we’re just ourselves, we don’t try to impress people. We do make mistakes and we do get drunk, we do what girls in their 20s do, it’s just that we’re shown in the public eye. I do like to think that girls can look at us and think “Yeah, girl power!” It’s nice to think that we can positively influence people!
ON GIVING ADVICE TO FANS WHO ARE STRUGGLING TO COME OUT TO FAMILY & FRIENDS
JADE:: Probably 80% of the time, they will already know, they’re just waiting for you to come out and say it. If he or she is in a close family, they will support you, they love you unconditionally.
PERRIE:: And you can’t change who you are anyway, so you’ve just got to embrace it, regardless of whether they support you or not, you’ve got to be you.
ON FRIENDSHIP WITH EMMA BUNTON
JESY: We love Emma too, she’s a really good friend of ours. Her boys are really big fans of us! She brings them to every concert, she sent us gifts at Christmas, she’s really sweet. You’re right, massively, she is the Fairy Godmother! We were going to Spice Girls gigs when we were little and now she’s bringing her kids, it’s gone full circle. She’s so down to earth, it’s mad to think she is a Spice Girl!
