JADE, HANS ZIMMER AND BLEEDING FINGERS UNITE FOR BLUE PLANET III EXCLUSIVE
New track Into The Deep (Seas Cry) receives its first play on BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Greg James, ahead of the global first-look at the groundbreaking natural history series tonight
BRIT Award winning and Mercury Prize-nominated singer-songwriter JADE and multiple Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer today unveil Into The Deep (Seas Cry), an original new song created exclusively for the launch of Blue Planet III, the highly anticipated return of BBC Studios Natural History Unit's landmark ocean series narrated by Sir David Attenborough.
The song receives its first global play this morning on BBC Radio 1's Breakfast Show with Greg James, before accompanying the world premiere of the extended Blue Planet III trailer tonight at 7pm BST released on BBC Earth and social platforms.
Written by JADE, Zimmer and Thom Lukas of the Emmy and BAFTA-winning Bleeding Fingers Music team, the sweeping new track has been created especially for the historic return of one of television's most loved and influential brands, 25 years after the original Blue Planet captivated audiences around the world and transformed our understanding of life beneath the waves.
Combining JADE's distinctive sound with Zimmer's cinematic scale, Into The Deep (Seas Cry) provides the perfect emotional backdrop to this breathtaking first-look footage and extraordinary stories at the heart of Blue Planet III.
JADE says:"I've been a huge fan of Blue Planet for many years and have so many memories of watching the show throughout both childhood and adulthood. Sir David Attenborough is a true hero of mine. Being part of Blue Planet III in this way feels incredibly special and a real privilege. I’m so proud of Into The Deep (Seas Cry) and it was amazing to create it with Hans Zimmer and his team. I can’t wait for people to hear it and see the beautifully moving new trailer.”
The collaboration continues the long-running creative partnership between Hans Zimmer, Bleeding Fingers Music and BBC Studios’Natural History Unit, which has seen some of the world's biggest recording artists create original music inspired by the natural world.
From Radiohead for Blue Planet II to collaborations involving Sia, RAYE, Camila Cabello and SEVENTEEN, these bespoke tracks have become defining moments in the launch campaigns of the BBC’s biggest natural history series events, connecting TV, music and culture in powerful new ways.
Thom Lukas, Bleeding Fingers Music said: "Blue Planet III offered an extraordinary opportunity to explore and translate the depths of the ocean through an expansive sonic lens. Working with JADE, we set out to capture the brilliant light, deep shadows and intense emotional gravity of life beneath the waves. We’re honoured to collaborate with the BBC on this series and help bring this vast underwater world to life."
Blue Planet III returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer this autumn, 25 years after the original series transformed audiences’ understanding of life beneath the waves. Narrated by Sir David Attenborough, the new series reveals extraordinary stories from some of the planet’s most important and least understood marine environments, filmed using cutting-edge technology, with an original score and soundtrack by Hans Zimmer and Bleeding Fingers Music.
